Fashion Mag of the Day: Pop Africana

Pop Africana was launched in 2010 by Oroma Elewa and it aims to be the official African book of style. I love the boldness of this magazine because there are so many other magazines [and designers] that strive to offer more 'diversity' by only inserting one or two Black models in their issues and on their runways. Pop Africana uses a wealth of creativity to show the world what beauty and incredible talent Africa has to offer. Enjoy & discuss!

Kimora Shares her Closet

Ahhh...one day. One day...
Amber Rose at the Critics' Choice Awards

Kanye's former lover graced the red carpet in a black chiffon mermaid-cut gown accessorized with gold beads and her signature pink lip. Though I've never been a fan of big tattoos and formal gowns, I was more than impressed with her look that night. I'm still not over the blonde buzz cut, as I feel it gives the look all the more edge. Perfect fit, flawless make up, and simple styling, I can't help but to give this two thumbs up!

Michelle Obama in Alexander McQueen

Our fabulous First Lady attended last night's state dinner [honoring Chinese President Hu Jintao] donning a silk organza gown from the Resort 2011 collection. I love how she always manages to look glamourous and elegant at every major event. If I was a former First Lady I'd be so jealous! And as for the future ones, they have big shoes to fill.
Let's recap on a couple of her previous looks...

Remember the custom-made gown [by Indian-American designer Naeem Khan] she wore to the state dinner welcoming Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh? The gown that featured hand-cut sterling sliver sequins sewn on nude silk chiffon, entirely handmade, and required 3 weeks of work by 40 people? She looked amazing.

I feel like her popularly noted one-shoulder Inauguration gown by Jason Wu foreshadowed her future status as a fashion icon. I look forward to seeing more perfect dress selections soon!

What I Wore 01162011

Like most others, I decided to step out last night to party with my friends because of the 3-day weekend. I bought this white body con dress from asos.com months ago, I had been so eager to wear it and found the perfect opportunity to do so. Ignore my face in this pic, I was tired! haha And I promise my hair and make-up looked better pre-party.

Here's a slightly better look at the dress...it has a black strip of silver studs on the shoulders:) Thanks for all the complements I got on it last night!
2011 Golden Globe Red Carpet Looks

Pardon my 10 day hiatus, I'm trying to get used to my new schedule. Let's gooo!

Olivia Wilde is a glamourous fantasy in this Marchesa gown!

I love love loveee the silhouette of this paillette encrusted Armani Priv gown on Anne Hathaway! Simply beautiful.

Angelina is everything in this sultry emerald Versace dress.

Heidi Klum disappointed me in this retro 70s chic dress. It's just kind of "blah" and her shoes appear to be a bit small.

Nicole Kidman gets a *yawn* from me. Way too simple & safe!

Megan Fox is a picture of perfection in Armani Priv.

Glee's Amber Riley wore a flattering sequin number by Oliver Tolentino & looked gorgeous!

Eva Mendes kicked her typical super-sexy look to the curb last night and arrived in a sweet/chic Valentino gown. Not quite sure what's on the top of her head though.

Wasn't completely blown away by Halle Berry's look, but she does look pretty good in her Nina Ricci fall 2009 gown. Wish she would've chosen different shoes and styled it another way.

Jennifer Lopez rarely disappoints on the red carpet and last night wasn't an exception. She was stunning in a white Zuhair Murad dress. I like how the embellished shawl gave it a nice twist.

I see Nicole Richie went for a glam 1920s - inspired look & as a whole it was okayyy to me. :-/ Her hair was bleh & I just don't really like the dress.

Eva Longoria looked amazing in a black Zac Posen gown. I wish I was more impressed with Posen's collab with Target's Junior's department though!

Catherine Zeta Jones also looked amazing in another deep emerald gown by Monique L'huillier.

Black Swan's Mila Kunis donned a beautifully draped dress and also followed the emerald trend for the night.

Yasss Lala!

Lala attended the Denver Nuggets vs. LA Clippers game in a fab pair of YSL Leopard Print Pumps. She wore them to complement her look composed of an Alexander McQueen Leather Jacket ($4400 :-o )and a Stella McCartney Clutch. I love this edgy/glam look on her! Def a dope in my book.
