Phase 1: Amateur Sketches...

Wow, took me a lot to put these on here, (lol) but I wanted y'all to see my journey from the very beginning. I haven't had any real art classes so don't judge too harshly haha...

"Now y'all know I'm an artist, and I'm sensitive about my _____." -Erykah Badu [lol]
Not much for designs, but good practice. More to come when I have time, and even better to come when i start taking formal classes!

What I Wore...Jan.20.2010

Warm winter day in NC (bout 65 degrees) so I decided to look cute. I don't get to dress up as often as I used to because of long nights studying, early morning classes, etc., so I was happy I had the chance yesterday. I love pulling together different pieces (and colors) and making them flow, so here it is. None of these pieces are particularly special or expensive. I also tried a new hairstyle which is slightly unusual for me, lol but hey, everybody liked it!

Sweater- Forever 21
Skirt- Target
"Art is Free" T-shirt- Delias
Leggings- I don't remember
Belt- Nordstrom
Boots- Rackroom Shoes
Vintage pearl earrings- Goodwill [haha]

Golden Globe Dresses that stood out..

Yeah, I know I'm late but I've been busy with school! Anywho, here are the looks that stood out the most to me:

Mo'Nique just made me laugh...pretty dress, but the furry legs just took away the elegance.
Lea Michele in Oscar de la Renta...so dramatic and gorgeous! This black dress would have been boring if it wasn't so full.
Kate Hudson in a silk crepe Marchesa gown...I love the silhoutte! Even though it looks a little bit too stiff at the top.
Olivia Wilde in Gucci. I love when plunging necklines don't show too much cleavage! The shimmer is not over-the-top or tacky, it's perfect. The draping is nice too!
Christina Aguilera in Versace...first of all where has she been...second of all the Bob cut= win...third of all I think this was my fav look of the night! So unique, chiffon gown with a metallic bodice is an unexpected combo and it comes together so well.

Playing around with Polyvore..

Summer-day outfit...(I'm tired of this cold weather) I need to get some baggy boyfriend jeans!
Edgy/classy outfit for an upscale event...love the Topshop shoes and Alexander Wang blazer!

When I'm bored, I tend to go to Polyvore.com and create outfits...I like getting to pick from expensive pieces and putting them together as an outfit that I would wear... if I had the money. (lol) For now I'm a broke college student with a sketch book & a dream haha ;-* but I'll get there one day.

lowkey fashionista of the day: SANTOGOLD

Her style is a mix of 80s vintage, mix & match patterns, laid-back funky-ness. Her confidence to pull off such outfits everyday is nothing less than inspiring. Her music reflects her sassy, quirky style with its clever lyrics and dope melodies.
She is Santi White, also known as SANTOGOLD
I can't tell you how much I admire the talented & beautiful woman! I've always admired those who have that "I don't care what you think, I know this doesn't match" kind of style, because it displays them for who they are and what they like instead of what society likes as far as trends. I hope that in the near future she comes out with another album and when she does, I promise I won't hesitate to upload her music to my iPod. If you're looking for a different kind of music to listen to that has a laid-back sound but is often upbeat, look no further.
