Fashion Collab of the Day

I've done posts in the past about both the Boxing Kitten & Osbourne Shoes brands and about how much I loveee them. Now they've collaborated and created these dope shoes with funky African prints using Batik-dyed fabric. I have yet to invest in these limited-supplied beauties but if I'm too late to get these, I still would love to get some of the regular Osborne shoes one day. What do you think?

Joelle's Fashion Bombshell of the Day Feature

Hey you guyssss! Thank you to everyone who commented and congratulated me on my feature on the very popular [has about 12,000 followers] Fashion Bomb Daily blog [click here if you missed it]! I was pleased and a little caught off guard with the post, as I thought that there would be some sort of process in being picked to be featured when I submitted my photos & statement. I was happy about the overall comments & ratings I got about my style from people all over the country because most of them were positive and encouraging. I was, however, disappointed in the lack of open-mindedness in some of the readers. I openly accept constructive criticism, but I felt the level of disrespect & rudeness that was put on my post [and most other fashion bombshell's posts] was completely unnecessary. I felt so strongly about that because I feel everyone has their own personal style and the right to express it, therefore I feel that those who often feel the need to post all the completely negative comments are out of line. At the end of the day I laughed it off [as I do most things lol] but again thank you to any and everyone who posted positive comments and constructive criticism:) That really made my week.
Anyways, you can click here to cast your vote for fashion bombshell of the year. Though I wasn't nominated, there are some pretty stylish ladies in the running! So go ahead and choose your favs:)

One of the overall messages I want to convey with my blog is that it's f a s h i o n! Your style is your own! Never be afraid to wear what you like or what makes you feel good because at the end of the day, YOU'RE the one that has to wear it...not anyone else:)

Thanks for the continued support and think in color,

Stylist June Ambrose to Get Her Own Reality Show

She has styled celebrities from Diddy & Jay-Z,  to Missy Elliot, Chrisette Michelle & Jazmine Sullivan. June Ambrose is probably one of the most demanded stylists in the industry right now and she has def caught my attention. I started following her a few months ago [for her twitter profile, click here] and she gives great style tips and often Twitpics her outfits and her also very stylish [and adorable] kids. I look up to her & I've even consider inquiring her about any internship possibilities, so you guys already know how excited I am about her upcoming show!

bahahah! I love her!!! "You have to have a haute heart."

Fancy Dinner? Perfect outfit

fancy dinner

A uniquely styled skirt and a nice flowy top is a beautiful combination for a night out. Add some peep toe pumps, bold jewelery & a funky clutch to glam  it up, then top it all off with a stylish trench with which to unveil your ensemble and Voila! Picture perfect.
Although Polyvore is fun, it sucks that I can't afford all the cute clothes posted [yet;)]! Nevertheless, take inspiration and get ideas from this chic little outfit I put together and create your own

Things that Have Caught my Eye Lately...

My fav professor Hoon Joo showed us this pic from Chanel Couture Fall/Winter  2010/2011...dope right?

A few pics from a spread in Vogue Germany...Liu Wen....she looks absolutely amazing. Inspiration!

Ugh can I just have this  blazer? [Mommy, I know you're reading this thinking "no." lol]

Don't see many spreads of Alicia Keys. This is my fav one of her to date...effortless beauty!

How cute is this ? I love the random, quirky, unusual format of this commercial/mini-movie! Definitely something fresh & new, and it's made me a little more anxious to see the premiere of this line at H&M on November 23rd!

C.O.J.'s Stylish Students: Joseph McRae

Name: Joseph McRae

Age: 19

Location: Raleigh, NC

Bio: I am a sophomore at North Carolina State University double majoring in Electrical Engineering and Applied Mathematics with a concentration in Finance. I was born and raised in Charlotte NC, which isn’t the most fashionable city; however, my passion for fashion was derived from the influence of my mother. As a child my mother would always keep me well dressed, and as I matured I developed my own sense of fashion. I believe fashion is a perception and I thrive to get my own individual perception. I do consider myself to have a good fashion sense: however, I am not fashionably educated so I am not familiar with a lot of designers and things of that nature.

One thing you can’t live without? My sunglasses

Most Fashionable Celeb? Kanye West

Favorite Place to shop? Thrift stores

Favorite Fall Trend? Mixtures of textures and patterns

How would you describe your personal style? A unique mixture of  geek chic, and high fashion

Joseph is the second, and most definitely not the last subject of this series!
NC STATE STUDENTS: I'll be on the look out for more fashion-forward guys & girls to recognize! If you have any suggestions, hit me up on facebook...until then I have a few in mind :)
Who's next?
Will it be you?

Kanye's Beautiful Acceptance Speech for Winning Stylemaker of the Year

Women's Wear Daily announced on Twitter the other day that Kanye had won this prestigious award! What's great is that this award isn't even for his collaboration with Louis Vuitton [see some of his designs here], but it was for having an influence on style and fashion.

Here's his speech:

"The concept of commercialism in the fashion and art world is looked down upon. You know, just to think, “What amount of creativity does it take to make something that masses of people like?” And, “How does creativity apply across the board?” Why, if someone is good in one field can they not be accepted or given the slightest opportunity to express and be creative in other fields? I thank Marc Jacobs so much for giving me the opportunity to design a shoe for Louis Vuitton, but the thing that broke my heart most was when they said, “You’re finished. The shoe’s finished.” When it was ready it was like the dream of putting together the fabric and having the energy that I knew of being a street kid, of being a boy out of Chicago, and enjoying every day and the way I can connect with this. It’s like, you can’t play the video game anymore. And that’s what it’s about. So many people in this room, they can’t even go on vacation without being creative. They can’t sit on the beach, they have to create constantly. And that’s how I feel with this album coming out.

I feel convicted. I feel a level of honesty. I feel a level of truth. I feel like a 5-year old. I feel like I’m getting closer to the 5-year-old inside of me and I feel like I have to represent that 5-year-old, even, even at the risk of my public … Maybe I can’t find the words right now, but we know what it is. Some people hate me. But nonetheless, my biggest moments, my biggest Internet-crashing moments were the opinion of a 5-year-old. The opinion of a 5-year-old, the spirit of a 5-year-old with the responsibility of a 100-year old. Where the truth will set you free or the truth will close doors. What compromises do we have to make? How many compromises do we have to make every day in this field just to keep things going? Just to be able to sell a product?

And looking at my project now versus Graduation, and look at what’s happening — what is the impact? What is the impact of last year? What did it have on me? Years from now, hundreds of years from now, what will be written in the history books? If you want to just understand how much I care, how selfless I am, how much I could give … For this to be the fifteen-year anniversary and for me to stand up here and be the first male to be honored for an influencer award or to be even recognized, because I sit back and as I say, “Let’s have a toast for the douchebags” … Fashion breaks my heart.

You know, when they do a magazine of No. 1 New Yorkers or something like that and I’m blatantly left out, I feel like … It hurts me. And I just appreciate the people in this room that are open-minded enough to remember when they were a 5-year-old. To remember when they could color outside the lines, to remember when they could give their opinion honestly without affecting their job, without it affecting their well-being. Or their kids having to go to the same school because they’re convicted about what they really, really believe. I thought that’s what true art was. I thought that’s what a true artist was. And to be able to stand up here in front of you guys and be recognized after all of this means a lot to me, and it means a lot for me to say this right now. Convicted right now. Thirty-three-years-old, still creating art. It’s rage, it’s creativity, it’s pain, it’s hurt, but it’s the opportunity to still have my voice get out there through music. To let my pain hit the radio and thank you for this moment of acceptance.”

"To remember when they could color outside the lines..."

Bravo Kanye! This man continues to be a huge inspiration to me!

Who Wore Them Better? Teyana vs. Christina

True work of art aren't they? :)
Report Signature Steinway Over the Knee Boots: $525
Are they worth it?

Though I do like both outfits, I feel like Christina had the more season-appropriate look [although I wish she wore darker jeans], while Teyana just looks cute. Well actually if she's comfortable in her outfit and not too cold, then why not?  On second thought, I think i DO like Teyana's look better. It's more fun!
Kerry Washington Covers Essence AND Elle

Personally my fav. Less conventional pose, and more intimate.

Ms. Kerry Washington is featured in both magazines for November. First of all, yesss Kerry for your versatility expressed in two totally different target markets and second of all, am I the only one looking forward to seeing her performance in the new movie "For Colored Girls"? Her and the rest of the star studded cast [Phylicia Rashad, Janet Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, Thandie Newton, and Michael Ealy, to name a few:)] are taking the film industry to a different level this fall! I'm excited to say the least. I'm sure it will be phenomenal.

*PS...pardon my hiatus...I've been working hard, I promise.

Dope or Nope: Rihanna [can't get enough of her]

Rihannaaaaa once again. Still don't know if I'm feelin this red wig thingy but she is arriving at her bf Matt Kemp's birthday party in LA wearing an Emilio Pucci animal print dress from his Fall/Winter 2010 collection. [Am I the only one jealous of these celebs that are able to purchase stuff right off the runway ?] This dress is...okay. I'm actually kind of bored with it. But I do love these $950 Jimmy Choo's on her feet though! #Pow
